My name is Darragh McCarthy, and this is an online portfolio of my computer games industry related work. Computer games for me represent both the cutting edge of computer technologies as well as being a fun and interesting and exciting area to work in.
I began my college carear at Trinity College Dublin with the prospect of becoming and electronic engineer as the ideas of problem solving and new technologies always gauged my interest. In the second year of this course is when we chose what field of engineering to specialize in, it is also this year that we were introduced to the concept of making computer games. I was in love. My previous curiosities could now be combined with an area that is fun and constantly advancing. Thus I chose to specialize in computer engineering, leading me to wear I am today.
After receiving my B.A.I. in computer engineering, I decided to further advance my interest in the games area by enrolling in the Interactive Entertainment Technology taught masters course also in trinity (http://www.scss.tcd.ie/postgraduate/msciet/). Here I would learn the fundamental skills and knowledge needed for progression into the games industry. My career objective is to continue on into the games industry, hopefully applying and improving these skills.
This portfolio contains videos, screenshots, download links, design documents and design post-mortems for my recent projects. To navigate the site, make a selection from the site menu to the left - or you can begin from the short summaries below. (The text in each of these project summaries is also included in the main page for the respective project, so you don't need to return to this index page if you don't want to).
If you would like to request a copy of my resume, I can be contacted via the 'contact Joseph' button above. Thank you for your time.
